VfL Wolfsburg are braced for a double whistle concert during their away match at FC St. Pauli on Saturday (8:30 PM, RTL and Sky). Alongside the focus on new signing Fabian Reese, defender Hauke Wahl also expects a hostile atmosphere at the Millerntor Stadium.

The 32-year-old moved from the promoted side to Wolfsburg in the summer after spending three years in Hamburg. He said Hamburg is his hometown and St. Pauli is the club where he probably had the most successful and beautiful time of his career. Wahl added that he believes he gave everything for the club for three years, not only on the pitch but also beyond.

Angély suspended, Adjetey steps in

Coach Tobias Strobl must also cope without the suspended Mathys Angély. The 19-year-old saw a second yellow card in the 4-4 draw against Energie Cottbus last weekend. He is likely to be replaced in the starting eleven by Ghana international Jonas Adjetey. The Wolves currently sit fourth in the 2. Bundesliga with eight points from four games and are unbeaten this season. Their record from the last five competitive matches is two wins and three draws.

Attacking strength, defensive concerns

The spectacular 4-4 draw with Cottbus highlighted attacking potency but also revealed defensive gaps. Robert Glatzel scored from the penalty spot and from an Alexander Bernhardsson assist, with Vinicius de Souza Costa and Mattias Svanberg completing Wolfsburg's four-goal haul. The team has scored ten goals this season but also conceded six. Against second-placed St. Pauli, coached by Marcel Rapp, awaits a first real benchmark test.
