Hecking smiles over BILD question
VfL Wolfsburg's Sports Director Dieter Hecking (61) smiles over a BILD question ahead of the clash against Hannover 96. The former player for the Red Devils (1996-1999) and trainer (2006-2009) maintains good contacts with the club and has friends there. He lives in Bad Nenndorf, just near Hannover.
BILD asked: Will it be a very special encounter on Sunday? „It's actually like every year. Regardless of which team I travel to Hannover with, I will be asked: Is it something special? And I answer now: No, it's not special anymore. Because it's simply been too frequent“, responds Hecking with a smile.

However, he emphasizes: „Despite that, I'm happy because I know some faces in Hannover and I had a nice time there. And because I live just outside the city gates. All that won't change. That's why it's not special for me anymore. But I'm still looking forward to being in the Hannover 96 stadium on Sunday again.“
What does he think about the season's prospects? Does Wolfsburg's Sports Director dream of rising together with Hannover to the Bundesliga? „I'm far from talking too much about a rise now. Others do that for us and they do it in a really good tone“, says Hecking with a smile and adds seriously: „We should stay with ourselves and see that we become more consistent and do everything for the things we work on and that we can influence.“
